Location and Travel
The venue of
the workshop will be the Department of Biotechnology of the Delft
University of Technology in Delft, also known as the Kluyver
Laboratory. The Kluyverlaboratory is located next to the Botanical
Garden of the TU Delft and on walking distance form the old city
center.

The Netherlands
Delft is easily reached and located close to the
main Dutch airport "Amsterdam Schiphol". Schiphol railway station is
only a couple of minutes walk from the
arrival hall. Several trains leave regularly in the direction of
Leiden, Den Haag HS, Den Haag CS or Rotterdam CS. Change at Den Haag HS
or Leiden and take a train to Delft. The train trip will take about 40
min to Delft.
The City of Delft is one of the
leading centers for Industrial Biotechnology for more than a century.
Large-scale industrial operations in combination with academic research
and education at the Delft University of Technology continue to create
a lively and active biotechnology scene. The proximity of Leiden
University with its impressive spin-off of novel biotechnological
enterprises makes the Leiden-Delft area services one of the dominant
biotechnology centers of Europe.

Internet access is available at the Department of Biotechnology. Also
the University Library next to the Aula provides internet facilities
Travel information for the Netherlands
Passport and Visa requirements
Persons from most European countries and the USA can enter the
Netherlands without visas. In case of doubt check the requirements at
the closest Embassy or Consulate of the Netherlands to make your own
arrangements.
Language
The official language in the Netherlands is Dutch.
The official language of the Conference will be English. No translation
facilities will be available.
Bank and currency exchange
The currency is the Euro. Delegates may change foreign currency and
travelers' cheques at the airport upon arrival and at banks in the
cities visited.
Credit cards
International credit cards are accepted for payment in most hotels,
restaurants and shops.
Insurance
The organizers of the Conference strongly recommend that participants
arrange their own insurance for health, travel and property prior
departure from their country. The organizers will not accept any
liability for personal injury or for loss of, or damage to, property.
Electricity
Electricity supply is 220V, European standard.
Climate and Clothing
Mild winters and summers characterize the climate. Average temperature
is 12-14 °C in May. There may be showers and it is
therefore advisable to bring a jacket for day/evening time and an
umbrella.
